About the functionality of our apps and how to use them
All of your notifications and messages will be displayed here for quick and easy access. Notifications and messages can come from:
- New invitations to connect
- Messages in public groups
- Messages in private groups
- Messages in Matters
- The message board
This section hosts all your conversations with other users of our service. You can create a new private discussion and you can read through the existing private discussionss that you have created or been invited to. When creating a new private group, you can add a title and a description and invite other people. The invitees can be existing my Lawyer subscribers or other lawyers or clients that you invite to download the app and join the service. If you are a paid subscriber, you will be able to share agreements, documents with any person you invite to join your private group. If you are a free subscriber and have been invited to join a private discussion created by a paid subscriber you will be able to share and have access to and read all the agreements, documents stored by the paid subscriber that has created the private discussion.
This section is available on the paid version of the app and enables a lawyer to organise her practice by matter and client. If the lawyer has subscribed to the Cloud version or Premium version of the app sharing agreements is incredibly efficient. Within each matter the lawyer can organise different channels. For example, the first channel could include the client as well as junior lawyers in the firm, legal assistance and secretaries. The second channel in the matter could include all of those people other than the client. The deletion of the client in the second channel promotes efficiency. The client is not interested to see drafts and internal communications. Any agreements that are stored in the cloud will be linked not only to the matter but also to the channel.
This section enables you to locate and connect with other subscribers to myLawyer. If there are lawyers with whom you wish to connect who are not subscribers to myLawyer you can correct this by inviting them to join. You can use the search function to find the lawyer you wish to communicate with. If you click on a profile, you will be presented the lawyers’ profile and be given the opportunity to connect.
After you have created your public profile, you will be given the opportunity to make some information private.
Yes. In this event you will be able to participate in all functions of the app that you subscribe to. However, no-one will be able to find you in a search.
If a matter or a discussion was started by a paid subscriber, then all members added afterwards can share documents, pictures and other material, even if they are not paid subscribers. ]If a matter or a discussion was started by a free subscriber, then no material can be exchanged by any of the participants, only messages.
If you want to start a new matter when you have been instructed by a client simply go to the myMatters section of the app – which is indicated by the pen symbol. You will be given the option to create a title for the matter and add a description.
If you believe that there is a function or a feature that should be added to the myLawyer app, please send an email to info@mylawyernetwork.com. If you discover a bug in any version of the app or the web app please email us at the same address.
There are three different ways to share a document:
- In a private conversation
- In a group discussion
- In a channel within a matter
In all three cases, you can simply press on the paperclip icon, which opens the menu to share a document that you have stored either locally, on the phone, tablet or computer you are currently using, or in the cloud. Every time you share a document, it is stored in the myLawyer cloud. This way you can always review, in a single page, all the documents that have been shared in a particular discussion.
